Data Entry Jobs in Dubai

There are positions in Dubai companies that perform the tasks of data entry but they are known by different position tiles such as company secretaries, encoders or information technology (IT) staff that have specific job objectives. Large companies have their own IT department where almost all IT-related work, including data entry done by encoders, is done. Some companies offer data entry work in each of their departments performed by their respective staff: the secretary, for instance in executive offices and the accounting clerks for the Accounting Department. Others have their own Data Management division to handle company data.

 

Data entry work involves a variety of duties in collecting and entering data into the company IT system, including the verification and distribution of resultant printouts.

 

Data entry job responsibilities include the maintenance and updating of data which should be done with a high level of speed and accuracy, the creation and maintenance of an organized filing system of all related documents sorted accordingly based on the nature of data, coordinating the collection of data from point of origin, participation in the pre-processing or checking of data, and locating missing information, making corrections as necessary, encoding data into the computer system, performing statistical checks of data to assure precise accuracy of data entered, verification of data entered into the computer by checking the printouts for errors and entry of corrections, monitoring of system malfunctions, reporting of malfunctions to the IT administrator, coordination in the retrieval of data or information from the system, and assistance in performing data collection and compilation for revision and updating purposes.

 

Data entry or encoding work requires computer literacy and skill, knowledge of data entry software programs at the intermediate level of proficiency, performance of computer MS Office applications, and enough experience in data entry, statistical reporting, data verification and, of course, data encoding in general and data analysis.

 

In Dubai, most data entry jobs require a minimum speed of from 50 to 60 words per minute (WPM). Fluency in English - both written and oral - is an edge and those with Information and Communication Management background have an advantage. In general, data entry staff should have a good experience in computer application of Office software that are used in the office, particularly MS Word, MS Access, and MS Excel, which are most of the time used in performing data processing.

 

Other qualifications desired by employers are: creative problem solving skills and excellent skills in data administration, data analysis, data interpretation and data integration. Data entry entails interactions with other departments and people as the sources of data, thus this job requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as excellent commanding power and leadership qualities. Data entry jobs do not require specific education in order to perform. A background in the Information Technology field usually fits you to this kind of work but some companies prefer skilled individuals, well experienced and smart, to fill in job vacancies of this sort, not strictly mindful of their applicants’ educational background, as long as they have enough education to work as professionals. Some companies prefer candidates who have educational background the same with the nature of business they have for the purpose of being familiar with the nature of data processing in the company. Being computer literate is a must. An excellent knowledge on industrial safety is also required but companies give seminars and training for this if necessary.
