MOH/DOH/GAHS Exam in UAE, Dubai and Abu Dhabi
by abraham » Saturday, 27th June 2009 01:37 pm

Hi all

This thread will help the medical job seekers in UAE
MOH/DHA(DOH)/GAHS Exams in UAE Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

All the health professionals who seek to work in UAE must appear for MOH examination and get qualified for work in UAE. Evaluation of the below categories is done in MOH Examination and separate exams conducted for the following professions.

  1. Physicians and Dentists
  2. Pharmacists and Assistants
  3. Nurses and Midwives
  4. Technicians
  5. Physicians, Practitioners and Technicians of the Complementary and Alternative
3 different Health Ministries functioning in UAE, 1)MOH which is Ministry of Health passing the MOH you are allowed to work in 5 emirates but not in Dubai or Abudhabi.2)DHA - Dubai Health Authority (previously known as DOHMS - Department of Health and Medical Services) DHA registration is required for working in Dubai. 3) GAH, which is General Authority of Health Exam or usually know as MOH/Abu Dhabi.

Syllabus
There is no particular syllabus advised for the exam, each professionals have to prepare depends on their speciality, the exam consists of written exam, Practical and Viva. You will get a multiple choice in the written exam. Successful passing of written exam leads to practical and viva and a specialist candidate must pass the viva to qualify for the practical exam.

How many times MOH Exam is conducted?
Exam is conducted twice a year

Re-sitting the MOH test
A candidate can only re-sit the exam twice. If a candidate does not pass in three attempts, he will be disqualified for any post in the Ministry or private. clinics and exempted even the MOH nonqualified candidates are working in clinics where usually the salary is law)

MOH and finding jobs in UAE
It is the responsibility of the candidates to find a job after he/she is qualified through MOH but the candidates are informed on the opportunities for work. Usually it is not that difficult to secure job after he/she pass the MOH examination

Refer the job section for health care jobs in UAE. Jobs in UAE/jobs in Dubai/Jobs in Adu dhabi

Doctors
Try searching the ministry of health website (links at the end of this post), The exam is of 2 part MCQs and if you pass with this they will call you for the interview (Viva).
The doctors can try for a job in private hospitals and apply for a medical licence while you are at work. Getting a job in private sector in the UAE is much easier, but working hours are more and pay is less. When you pass with the licence you are allowed to work in Ministry hospitals in the Emirates except Dubai and Abudhabi, these two emirates have a different licensing. The applicants can submit the application in MOH office in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. (you can find the address with phone numbers at the end of this post)

MOH exam is held in Dubai, application can either be submitted in MOH office in Dubai or in Abu Dhabi. Successful pass of MOH examinations entitled the doctors to take the job in ministry of health hospitals and reputed private hospitals. Your performance in the exam is important you will be evaluated after the exam whether you are qualified to work only in Private hospitals or both private and ministry hospital.

I will explain on the registration in Dubai and Abu Dhabi you need to pass the licensing exam of DOH or GAHS to work in work in Dubai or in Abu Dhabi national hospitals respectively. After you pass the DOH or GAHS try applying with the ministry hospitals and private hospitals. They will pass the information regarding the job openings after you qualify the MOH, DOH or the GAHS, but donít wait for this you can start trying by approaching different hospitals, itís your responsibility to find a job and successful passing of the exams will support you to get you the job.

The DHA/DOH exam is only panel interview and there is no written exam, but MOH has two parts panel interview and written exam.

A DHA/DOH allows you to work in Dubai while the MOH will qualify you to work in any other emirate besides Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Dentist
UAE government allows you to practice by yourself, for this you need to be an MDS qualified dentist with 2 years of experience. If you are BDS graduate, you can only work as an assistant to an MDS doctor. The dentists who wish to practice in Dubai must appear for DOH viva exam and for practicing in other Emirates he need to pass the MOH written and Viva. You need to carry your original attested certificates for the interview and you will get the results in 3 days time.
If you wish to work in UAE try for a sponsor who is ready to sponsor you and offer a job in any clinics and the clinic will do the necessary arrangements for your DOH/MOH exam.

You need to check with the concern authority on the experience required to practice in Dubai and other emirates of UAE because the requirements by the ministry keep changing. Usually the ministry ask for MDS with some experience to practice as a Dental General practise and MDS with 3 years for practicing as a Dental Specialist. For BDS candidates to practice as a Dental GP they need to have 5 years of experience.

I am reminding you on the attestation part again you need to attest your MDS/BDS certificates before you turn for the interview.

Hospitals under ministry of health in Dubai usually carry out overseas recruitment in India and Philippines and many other countries. This is direct recruitment and can apply through the respective agents. Interviews and selection is done directly by the ministry of health Dubai
Once if they arrange recruitment session, they will publish through local news papers in the respective country and the recruitments only through appointed agents.

So if you are in your home country, just keep on watching the advertisements.

MOH/DOH/GAHS Exams in UAE Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Dear Sameera
I am writing a brief about the DOH dentists exam, Hope this post will help all the dentists looking to work in Dubai
To practice by Yourself you need to be an MDS with minimum 2 years experience. If you are a BDS, you can only be an assistant to an MDS. There is only Viva in DOH exam and successfull pass is required to work in dubai. (with DOH you are allowed only to work in Dubai).

Get your main certificates attested by UAE Embassy Delhi before the interview. Take an appointment date for interview from DOH and appear with your original attested certificates. Results will be published online in 2-3 days. You can come on a visit visa and can do the doh exam in dubai

You can also apply directly by yourself in DOHMS website. I will mention the contact details at the end. Another possibility is geting a sponser from Dubai and thy can take an appointment for you from DOH like polyclinic or small dental clinics.

5. is it possible to pass registration ON-LINE ?

And the last question:
Should i need to pass MOH exam, if i will want to work in Sharjah later and already have DHA license?

Thanks a lot in advance, sorry for my poor grammar.

Hope this details will help you

1. What else documents do i need for registration in DHA ?
General Dentist
Application for Licensure (SLD form No. 03 )
Health Professionals Licensure Form (SLD form No. 02)
signed & stamped officially by the facility
( Hospital or new clinic or existing clinic)
Authenticated 1 copy of basic dental qualification e.g.
BDS, DDS, DMD or other equivalent qualification
Authenticated copy of post graduation certificate(s) (if
any)
Copy of Internship certificate (obligatory)
2 Copies of recent experience certificate(s)Five years
experience including Internship programme
Copy of valid Medical License(s) / Registration(s)
Good Standing Certificate from medical council in the
country of last practice or renewal of the registration (not
more than six months old)
Passport photocopy
One recent coloured photograph
Other Documents (if any)
Interview & Application Fee

2. Is it o.k. that some my documents were attested in 2007 ?
Authentication by UAE embassy/Ministry of foreign affairs in UAE is required, so the period is not important

3. Is it possible to pass registration few days before Exam date ?
The approval will be declared after 5 working days of submission date. But check the below DHA website for the available date by selecting dental and there you can find the dates vacant seats for the DHA exam.

http://edohms.dohms.gov.ae/mpt/interview/Interview_Schedule_view.aspx

4. if not,how many days at least before exam date ?
Seats are limited so it depends on the availability, so prior booking is recommended

5. is it possible to pass registration ON-LINE ?
Yes, contact the DHA authorities

Should i need to pass MOH exam, if i want to work in Sharjah later and already have DHA license?
Yes, you have to pass MOH
Good luck for your exam

There is no information regarding this in DHA website or in any other manuals, i don't think there is any chance of rejection. Itís better to clear this issue with DHA, you can find the contact information of DHA in my previous post.
Good luck

Kindly go through all the posts, most of your questions are already answered here and more than that you will find detailed information if you spend some time going through the previous posts. The following link will help you. Its not that easy to find a job with out licence in UAE and most of the clinics prefer licensed candidates.

I am a MBBS and DPM (Dipoloma in Psyciatry) from India. I have 4 years of experience in psychatric practice. Six month back I have shifted to Sharjah with my family and hold a residents visa. Since I plan to give DOH and MOH exam cam someone help me with the following query.

1) Since I am a diploma holder do I have a chance to qualified as Specialist Psychiatris or atleast Registrar Psychiatry. Or will I have to work as GP only.

2) For MOH exam, is there a general exam for all medical doctors or there is special exam for specialization. Where do I stand as far as MOH is concern. Again here is my diploma stop me from practicing psychiatry.

Thanks in advance
Dr Jeena Shaijan

Hi
You can appear for the MOH exam if you are professionally qualified with a degree in nursing or certificate in midwifery. With out professional education in relevant field you cannot appear for the MOH or any other minstry exam.
You can try for a job in clinics as a supporting staff with out MOH but this depends on the employer's willingness to hire you.

Hi Raj

1.After I cleared the exam I am only eligible to work only in Dubai or anywhere else?
The DOH exam allows you to work only in Dubai

2.After getting the dubai registration, is it permanent or will i have to pay every year for renewal?
DOH Licence is subject to yearly renewal

3. After passing after how many days they issue the registration certificate?
The assessment result shall be declared after two days of assessment date.
You can view the interview result through the website www.dha.gov.ae (Licensing & Speciation) by using the Registration No., Facility Code No. and Candidate's Code No.

4. What will be the pay range for specialist dentist in dubai private hospital?
This depends on the hospital, experience and current salary trends in the country

5. Its better to work in private hospital or government hospital?
Depends on the individual and his/her career choice

Good luck
