In UAE there are no official figures on the number of call centre currently in operation in the country
However, estimates put the figure at 300, with 75 percent of these classified as small – putting up to 13,500 employees.

I am looking for an opening in a call center in the U.A.E.I have no experience in this field but would like to apply all the same.I used to work for Reuters M.E in Bahrain for 7 years as a cashier and settled down to married life in 1989.Now my daughters are settled in college and I am on the look out for a suitable job.

Call centers have emerged in at least three of the seven emirates of the UAE: Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. This is not to say, however, that there are absolutely no call centers in the four other emirates. The concentration of call centers, both outbound (telemarketing) and inbound (customer service), is in Dubai, where many of the world’s offshore companies have chosen to locate. Even Dubai’s local companies and some areas of operations of the Dubai Government also rely on their own call center. For example, the Road and Transport Authority of Dubai has set up a modern mechanism for public information dissemination and toll and traffic management assistance perusing the call center model. Dubbed Salik Call Center (“salik” meaning one pursuing Islamic faith), this is envisioned to serve as an effective tool for public information and public service. To ensure a wide scope of communication, Salik Call Center adopts a trilingual approach where English, Arabic and Urdu-speaking communities are reached. The operators of Salik consists of a healthy mix of locals and discriminatingly-selected expats.
Majority of the call centers based in Dubai are privately operated. They are any of these: affiliates, subsidiaries or departments/divisions of existing companies, both multinational and local, or operated by business process outsource (BPO) providers. Some of these serve areas in Dubai only; some cover the entire Middle East region; while others are international and are not governed by the limits of time and space.
Since investments for setting up and running call centers are huge, given hardware and software requirements as well as reliable connectivity and server, some businesses in need of call center services have the option of exploring readily available BPO facilities on either leasehold or profit sharing schemes. These facilities are available in Dubai as well as in Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital, and Sharjah.
Job Prospects
This is one industry where knowledge of the Arabic language is a big plus. A high level of proficiency in English can, however, make up for this in certain outbound call centers that have little or no operations that involve use of the Arabic language. Those geared for customer service have bilingual operations but they do hire some staff that speak only English. After all, calls received from non-English speaking customers may be passed on to Arabic speaking operators.
Employment prospects abound in Dubai for call center agents coming from any country of the world because of the long list of companies from different sectors that have call center operations. Among these sectors are: banks and credit card companies, financing companies, manpower/recruitment agencies, software companies, consulting firms, maintenance companies, market research organizations, marketing and sales outfits, and so forth. There is a long list, too, of professional contact centers operating in Dubai. These may be surfed from the internet although concrete job postings in reliable sites offer more certainty with their online application buttons feature that applicants can simply click on.
Private financial institutions such as banks and credit card companies are among the primary users of call centers, both the captive type and the 3rd-party types, pertaining to company-owned/affiliated centers and sub-contracted ones.
Even food chain Burger King has recently set up its own call center. This center serves the need of their customers throughout the UAE.

Opportunities in these areas are just as rich in Dubai. There are both managerial and staff levels among some of the job openings. For example, now and then there are vacancies for the following positions in Dubai call centers: quality assurance manager, quality assurance supervisor, quality assurance assistant, technical support manager, administrator, IT support specialist, and the like.
A Guide in Applying for Call Center Jobs in Dubai
The first step is as mentioned above. After noting down the URLs of reliable job sites (usually just tagging these among the “Favorites”), the next step is to update one’s resume, highlighting relevant qualifications cited in the job posts chosen. Do not fail to include English Proficiency Certifications secured, if any. Those who do not yet have such certifications, it is best to explore what can be done about it online. There are several URLs that offer solutions.
Include in your resume your latest ID picture, relevant job experiences and other qualifications. If you still have time to quickly learn Basic Conversational Arabic language, by all means, learn and declare. As mentioned earlier, this is a huge plus point. Never include in your application details any information that is not true. Make sure that all the data embodied in your resume and application form are verifiable.
Applying is done online. It is best that your uploaded resume is accompanied by a cover letter. Online recruitment sites generally have this provision. Make sure that you edit your letter and resume for possible spelling and grammar flaws before submitting. After uploading and filling out forms online, expect a reply if you get shortlisted. No response for over 10 days more often than not means that you should dig up other options. Better yet, if the application system allows, email a follow-up letter. But apply to as many job posts as possible but only in sites that you feel confident about. And don’t feel bad if you do not make any hits. Try and try until you land in Dubai. After all, the salaries offered for the jobs in Dubai along these lines are worth the perseverance. One site mentions a survey that reports monthly incomes of from 2,000 to 10,000 DHM for call center operators that bear any of the position titles advertised online. The figures may be higher or lower depending on the size of the company hiring and their policy guidelines on salaries and personnel matters.
Call Center Career Lifestyle in Dubai
The lifestyle of contact center employees based in Dubai is pretty much the same as that anywhere else in the world where these centers operate. The byword for those servicing international geographic boundaries is 24/7, meaning, nonstop service or sales work so the work shifts are, as usual, three. Most of those serving just Dubai and the Middle East operate only between 8 and 10 or 12 or 16 hours, whether these are extended hours (up to what is allowable by the country’s laws) or two shifts. (By the way, do not forget to read up on Dubai’s Labour Laws. It is good to know how one’s rights might be protected and how one can exercise responsibility to the fullest measure.)
Now, back to lifestyle.
The lifestyle in Dubai is generally brisk, and people coming out of buildings where there are call centers make frequent trips to the nearest coffee shops, restaurants and food chains, too, for those who prefer stuff easy to gobble up. What you see in the business center of your country is essentially what you would see in Dubai—all those coffee shops competing in ambience and aroma to entice customers to hop in and sip coffee with vegetable salad or croissant to go along with it. Food chains of all names are also ubiquitous but it is in the fine-dining restaurants where the executives of contact centers hold their meetings or hang out in. The rest go for wherever their feet take them to eat.
Oh, it’s not good to mention about the puffs… (Holy smoke!)… so you see, it’s so much like anywhere else. Adjustment won’t be a problem. Getting home will also be easy should you decide to stay in one of those rented apartments in downtown Dubai. It lengthens your chance to rest and sleep, regular hours or not.
This also saves you the drive to the suburbs and the need to buy a car. That’s savings for you! That’s convenience and much-needed extra time for bed!
So what are you waiting for? I am also doing may call center and outsourcing jobs in India but I never heard any thing about UAE in the field of the call center and outsourcing. this is new information for me that middle east is doing call center and outsourcing. Usually companies go for outsourcing form developing countries like , India , China , Pakistan and Philippine. The basic purpose is to reduces cast and provide better customer support. Any way your list is good but I do not about he rules in UEA that weather you can get job directly or not.
