UAE daily Gulf News reported on Monday, The Emirates National Development Programme (ENDP) has placed the jobseekers on a blacklist for six months in an effort to “show we’re serious”, Executive Director Eisa al-Mulla was quoted as saying.
The Emiratis were placed on the list for reasons such as being too picking over job offers and for failing to attend interviews, the newspaper reported.
The UAE government is pushing a programme of emiratisation that encourages the employment of the local population in certain sectors over expats, who form a majority of the country's workforce.
But the emiratisation drive has had limited success, with many nationals turning down job offers, quitting, or simply do not bothering to apply.
