In a statement to Khaleej Times, the minister said no new employment permits would be issued to any firm found submitting wrong salary statements and that its officials would be referred to court to face legal action.
No work permits would be issued for another month if the firm is found defaulting the payments the second time, for two months the third time and for three months the fourth time, the minister clarified.
If the ministry finds that this punishment has not deterred a firm from flouting the WPS frequently, it will extend the ban on new work permits to the firms of the owner of the violating company and refer its officials to the court.
The minister explained that the WPS gives the employer the option to choose one or more agents approved by the UAE Central Bank to transfer the wages of workers.
